This work evolved from playful explorations of textiles, landscape and weather on the collaborative residency at Maker Heights, Cornwall.
It primarily speaks to the loss of Davina’s mother who always wore very particular pristine white vests. It involves the interaction between the artist, an enamelled printed vest on copper foil and an impossible vessel made from swan’s feather’s with the artist’s cupped hands screen printed onto it. The building was chosen because of the windows and mirrored glass but was later revealed (to the artist by members of the audience at the public showcase of work produced) to have been the site of a stand off between the community at Maker Heights and the bailiffs. Thus the ritual took on another layer of meaning for those who had witnessed both.
